The Outcasts {Chapter Three}

My heart almost stopped when he brought up the escapees. Did he know who they were? Did he know it was us??
"Lord Death has told me to tell anyone I can to stay in the city until told otherwise. These witches have escaped the prison and are highly dangerous. We don't know their identities yet, but we know they have escaped and fled towards the desert surrounding this city." He explained flatly. The rest of the room gasped in fear and awe, but Aira and I were relieved on the inside.
After a quick moment of hysteria from Liz, the room went back to a friendly sleepover. I felt a bit awkward talking to Kid, since he kept adjusting my bangs to be 'Perfectly symmetrical.' I kept pushing his hands away, but he always found a time to adjust them again.
Soon the cat walked in and Maka gave her a slightly angry glare as she sat on Soul's lap. What the heck does she have against this- uhhh... Human cat... Now I know what she has against her..
After a little while everyone started heading home, minus Liz, Patty, Kid, Aira and I. Liz and patty wanted to stay and Kid thought a little while away from home would be good, and Aira and I just had nowhere else to go, really.
We spent the night watching movies and Kid told us more about the academy. Things like when and why it was created, and even told us more about Lord Death. It's interesting how he can create all of these rules and how so many people follow them.
"So you two are travelers." He stated, "Why is that?"
"Well, we really don't like staying in one place for too long, so we travel the world, see the sights. I particularly like Australia and England." I smiled, imaging all of the nice people we had met in those places.
"I like the US and Spain." Aira said. She just liked the food.
"Interesting." Kid smiled a bit. "What else do you like to do when you're not traveling?" He asked with general curiosity. What are we playing, Twenty Questions? Oh well, It was an okay question.
"We're artists and writers in our free time." Aira and I said in unison.
"I like to draw animals and people." I explained.
"And I draw scenery. Things like trees and the sky and buildings. Then we put the pictures together to make one big thing!" Aira said, pulling out a small paper from her pocket. She unfolded it and it was a picture of a small dog, a Shiba Inu most likely, in front of a tree.
Kid took the picture to get a closer look. "Hey, you guys are pretty good."
We smiled. "Thank you!"
We all had our own little conversations for a little while before Kid and his partners headed home. Maka let us stay at her home for now, letting us sleep on the couches. We were grateful for that at least, but we know we'd have to find our own house soon, if we didn't get captured first.
We all headed to sleep, readying for the next morning. Our first official day in the academy. We already knew quite a bit  and were on par with the lessons Stein was teaching when we came into the city, so we'd know enough material to be able to work with the other students.
In the morning, everyone seemed to have the same schedule. Maka, Soul, and Blair fighting, and Aira and I already on our way to the academy. I just wanted to get through this day without meeting eyes with that whacko scientist. He's just... Creepy...
We met up with Kid on our way to class. He said that later on he'd see us in the death room. He didn't explain why but, nonetheless we agreed to meet him later and went on to class. We went to the back of the room where we had been yesterday and watched everyone slowly flooded into the room. It was interesting how everyone grouped themselves. It was little packs of wolves. Everyone with their own 'kind' and defensive of their 'territory.' Soon Stein rolled into the room and started class. The first thing he did was roll call, then he asked Aira and I to the front to introduce us.
